The past few weeks have served up plenty of raindrops, drizzle, downpours and all around dampness but if I’m to believe the Farmer’s Almanac, we’re in for one long, hot, dry summer. With that in mind, I’m on the hunt for the restaurant or café possessing an exceptional patio experience in Southern Ontario (I welcome any suggestions.)

Winter in Canada feels endless so once the snow melts away and the dandelions burst onto the scene I seek any and every opportunity to get outside and stay there. First up for consideration is the charming and cheerful Black River Café located at 126 High Street in Sutton.  This is a wonderful destination for cyclists, boaters and day-trippers alike. They’re open 7 days a week and the day starts early!  Grab a tasty homemade baked good and pair it with an authentic latte or cappuccino for a mid-morning snack or try their yummy soups and scones for lunch.

You can dine inside for cozy comfort or al fresco on the beautiful patio overlooking the Black River and a lovely garden.  You can also bring your laptop as they offer I hour of free wifi when you spend $5 or more.
